The Red Post Office

Idea description:

The project is concerned with the degradation of aesthetic and architectural qualities of buildings of the second half of the 20th century and their current unprofessional alterations. I draw attention to an object of Post Office building No. 55 in Bratislava – Petrzalka, which has undergone such a renovation, although it is a valuable construction. The most significant element was the facade consisting of a large-format inscription “POST OFFICE”, composed of red horizontal aluminum beams that were dismantled due to renovation. The original object thus became a building fading out in the environment. Therefore, I decided to highlight the current status of the facade as well as the whole object by projecting my own artistic completion of the front façade, referring through disparate sketches to the original visual of the building. The projection showed that Post Office No. 55. can still become the dominant urban element for the site.
