Aquaponic farm in the deteriorating spa

Idea description:

Building an aquaponic farm in the deteriorating Grössling city spa area would prevent the degradation of a cultural monument as well as provide access to sources of local and organic fruit and vegetables.

An aquaponic farm represents an original and sustainable form of fish rising and vegetable growingfarming in a closed re-circulation system. It is an ecosystem in which fish, living in large tanks, (called “pools”), supply plants with the necessary nutrients, while the plants, with the help of their root bacteria, simultaneously clean the water for the fish.

In this way, 90 % less water is used in comparison with thethan in traditional agriculture. The result of such symbiosis is local organic food coming fresh and ripe to the consumer, greatly contributing to the protection of environment at the same time.
